Past Perfect: Kaari Meng at French General

This month's Past Perfect quilt designer is
Kaari Meng of French General


Petite Point is a pattern for a hexagonal pineapple.

Kaari's store French General located between Glendale and Los Angeles
is open on Saturdays.


She began as a jewelry designer and has for years has designed fabrics for interiors. Her theme is traditional French decorating and her signature colors shades of red, blue, gray and tan.

She has been designing fabric for quilters since 2008, producing consistently elegant collections
with patterns based on traditional design.

Recent collection: Beau Papillon

Her sources are French document prints she collects on her frequent trips to Europe.

Most lines feature a couple of large-scale toiles or chintzes.

Chafarcani is another recent line.

Chafarcani contains large-scale chintzes and small-scale
mignonettes.
