The Whole Story: Quilting Patterns, Opening October 4, 2013. Using a technique she developed for digitally tracing quilting lines on high-resolution images, guest exhibition curator Linda Baumgarten, curator of textiles and costumes at Colonial Williamsburg, brings to the forefront the often taken for granted quilting stitch. By highlighting quilting designs, Baumgarten reveals another aspect of the quilt’s message, one that is less immediately visible than the patchwork, applique, and printed patterns we often notice first on historic quilts.
